Oldfield Electrical and their partners Read Electrical turned to Ritherdon for durable, weatherproof enclosures to house the essential power and metering systems supporting Burnley FC’s training pitch at Gawthorpe.
Football is a game of precision—and so is pitch maintenance. A professional playing surface isn’t just about the right grass, but also the right infrastructure to keep it in top condition year round.
For this project, they selected:
- Two RMC2100 Cabinets – Providing a robust, stainless steel solution for housing electrical distribution and metering equipment.
- Two RB1550 Cabinets with an extra large access panel – For easy maintenance access.
The Challenge: Powering Gawthorpe’s Pitch Maintenance Systems
Maintaining a professional football pitch is more than just cutting the grass. It requires specialist grow lighting to promote healthy grass growth, especially during low-light months.
This requires: Reliable power distribution and metering to manage energy use efficiently.
These systems need to operate flawlessly in all weather conditions, from cold Lancashire winters to wet matchdays. The Gawthorpe Training Ground needed a strong, safe, and easy-to-access enclosures for its important electrical systems.
The Solution: Ritherdon RMC & RB Cabinets
With decades of experience in manufacturing tough, weather-resistant enclosures, Ritherdon was the natural choice.
RMC2100 Cabinets for Secure Power & Metering
The RMC2100 Cabinets were chosen for their:
- Stainless steel construction, ensuring longevity in outdoor environments.
- Ample internal space, perfect for housing power distribution and metering equipment.
- Lockable, secure doors, protecting sensitive electrical components from tampering.
RB1550 Cabinets for Easy Access
To complement the RMC Cabinets, two RB1550 Cabinets were also needed. They included an Access Panel as an Optional Accessory, offering these advantages:
- Quick and efficient maintenance, reducing downtime for electrical servicing.
- A compact yet robust solution, ideal for housing additional pitch infrastructure.
The access panel required a larger size than our usual, and naturally, we were pleased to accommodate.
HIAB Delivery for Hassle-Free Installation
To simplify installation at Gawthorpe, Ritherdon arranged HIAB (crane) delivery. This delivery method made it easer to move and position these large Cabinets. Safely lifting and positioning the RMCs exactly where they needed helped Oldfield Electrical and Read Electrical completed the job smoothly, efficiently and most importantly safely.
