20 Years of Living Wage
Well here at Ritherdon we love a good celebration, and this week marks a unique and wonderful occasion to do just that, Living Wage Week. A celebration of 2 decades of the Living Wage Movement.
Beginning in East London with the group Citizens UK bringing together churches, mosques and schools to campaign for a fair London living wage, beginning with hospitals and eventually spreading to schools and city firms, the cause eventually going national in 2011.

Over the last 20 years the Living Wage Movement has been a qualified success, increasing pay for over 260,000 workers and returning over 1.5 billion pounds to low paid workers with employers from Nationwide, Chelsea Football Club and ITV to the Houses of Parliament and Aviva joining the nearly 9000 employers across the UK committed to providing a fair wage for workers.

At Ritherdon we have been a proud Living wage employer for over 8 years now, matching the living wage whenever it increases, raising worker pay to £9.90 an hour this year alone. We have always found the values and ideals of The Living Wage Movement have aligned with ours, wanting to provide good living standard, training and opportunities for all, actively encouraging our suppliers and customers to join the movement and look into its benefits.

We have loved every second being part of the Living Wage Movement so here’s to another amazing 20 years.
