Ritherdon & Company recently worked alongside Electricity North West (ENW) and supplied a quantity of stainless steel external electrical enclosures from our RB range of cabinets for a power monitoring trial scheme.
The scheme has seen a number of Ritherdon cabinets being utilised to house and protect domestic power consumption monitoring equipment, with a total of 200 units being installed over the coming months.
As well as calculating and monitoring how much electricity is being used in nearby homes, the monitoring equipment also aims to assess the quality of electricity supply to domestic residences.
With the coming to prominence of solar energy and eco-friendly plug-in vehicles, electricity and power supply companies want to know what amount of electricity is being pulled from the National Grid at any given time. In essence, a greater understanding of power supply is needed now more than ever.
The RB range of cabinets were initially developed with the street lighting and highways industries; however, their highly flexible, modular design means they are suitable as enclosures for protecting electrical and/or electronic equipment in the most inhospitable external environments (available in 3 grades of stainless steel, 4003 as standard for inland locations).
The external electrical enclosures (cabinets) used for the ENW power monitoring scheme are no different. With options for backboards, shelves, racking, lighting, environmental control, etc. the Ritherdon range of stainless steel cabinets can also be delivered pre-wired – saving time and money.
The cabinets are supplied with a powder-coated finish, which is particularly useful in places susceptible to adverse weather conditions.
