Ritherdon Appointed to National Highways OTCF
Ritherdon and Co. Ltd will have the opportunity to provide its stainless steel electrical enclosures to National Highways. Ritherdon has been appointed onto National Highways Operational Technology Commercial Framework (OTCF). The OTCF is a commercial vehicle to support the delivery of the second roads investment strategy (RIS2) technology pipeline and meet the strategic aims of National Highways.
The company participated in the rigorous procurement process of National Highways and qualified to supply cabinets and feeder pillars and other related products. Ritherdon was successful in the Framework procurement process for Lot 3: Passive Systems.
This means that Ritherdon will have the opportunity to supply its stainless steel cabinets, including National Highways approved cabinets Type 600 up to its latest specification MK6. National Highways will also be able to access to our in-house design team and manufacturing expertise.
Ritherdon has a proven track record as designer and manufacturer of roadside cabinets and feeder pillars and other electrical enclosures for the transport and highways sector. MD Ben Ritherdon says, ‘It’s very exciting to embark on this journey with National Highways and to be independently reassured our Cabinets as well as our design and manufacturing practices meet the highest standards.’

After developing our design of the new Type 600 Cabinets (NH600) and Type 600 C Combined Cabinet (NH600C) as well as the corresponding the Cabinet Pedestal Standoff Base following National Highways specification (TR1153 E, TR2637 B, TR2638 respectively), it was the natural step to bid for the OTCF tender. We felt encouraged to bid as an SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) as we’ve understood that this new Framework is a way for National Highways to make future procurement process less onerous for small and medium business like us. Traditionally, SMEs like us sometimes have felt left out of these procurement processes.
Ritherdon design, manufacture and supply stainless steel cabinets and feeder pillars to all UK highways and utility authorities. Ranging from the smaller R and RH Feeder Pillars apt for street lighting applications amongst other utility uses, to robust single and double door RB Cabinets for housing and protecting electrical equipment needed to operate roadside and utilities infrastructure, to our largest stainless steel cabinets RMCs used for larger projects including powering various EV charging stations and installations. In our drive for innovation, we’ve designed Ritherdon’s patented crash-friendly Passively Safe Cabinet, a first in the UK.

Ritherdon looks forward to the opportunity of providing National Highways with approved roadside cabinets and other approved products for use on England’s Strategic Road Network through this Framework, which is for an initial duration of two years with extension options of up to an additional two years.
