Vaisala is a global leader in environmental and industrial measuring, with over 75 years’ experience in the industry. Ritherdon & Co have been supplying Vaisala with a variety of cabinets in a variety of different sizes, including the RB800 and RB1250. Vaisala highlighted the quality finish and size of the cabinets as a determining factor in choosing Ritherdon & Co to manufacture and supply their cabinets.

The RB800 and RB1250 were utilised by Vaisala for upgrades to their Weather Stations on the Scottish Trunk Roads Network, and also for their solar and wind-powered sites. The cabinets are currently in place and continue to display the credentials that appealed to Vaisala initially.

Issues Identified

Vaisala Ltd had a specific requirement for high-quality, robust electrical enclosures that would be spacious enough to house all of their electronic equipment and weather-monitoring instruments.

As the Scottish Trunk Road Network is susceptible to adverse weather conditions, particularly over the winter period, the cabinets needed to be of the highest quality to ensure protection of the equipment they house.

Solution

The flexible, modular design of the RB range ensures protection of electronic equipment even in the most inhospitable external environments. Made from 304 grade stainless steel, the RB electrical enclosures are ideal for use in a wide range of atmospheric environments.

Although stainless steel is not immune to corrosion, the combination of 304 grade stainless steel and powder-coating substantially reduces the risk of corrosion – improving the durability of the product.

The Ritherdon RB cabinets come in a variety of different sizes, ranging from 300mm to 1550mm in width. Vaisala Ltd currently uses both the RB800 (800mm) and RB1250 (1250mm) to house and protect electrical equipment including regulators and signal cables.
