The R22 FireSeal enclosure (meter box) was designed and tested to prevent a fire inside a gas meter housing from spreading across and blocking an escape route from a building: typically where gas meters have been installed in blocks of flats, by stairwells or in corridors.
The development of this new product came about when fire risk assessors highlighted that gas meters in fire escape routes were a hazard and needed to be dealt with. We wanted to provide a solution for our customers in the social housing sector, so we designed and tested an adequate product.
The R22 FireSeal provides an easy to install solution that is fire-rated up to 90 min. The R22 FireSeal can be retrofitted, which means it can help bring an old site up to modern safety standards. For new developments, the installation of the R22 FireSeal in fire escape routes can avoid having to build separate structures saving in costly construction developments.
We are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for the R22 FireSeal in Passive Fire Protection category of the Security and Excellence Awards. This is the second time we have been shortlisted for the Passive Fire Protection category, as last year, our Riser FireSeal was also a finalist.
