The Cabinet Type 640 (Combined Equipment Cabinet) is a development of the Cabinet Type 600 (Motorway Communications Cabinet) and the Cabinet Type 609 (Electrical Interface Cabinet).

Intended to be deployed where space restrictions preclude the use of the two separate cabinets together on the same site. The NH640 is supplied in two variants, Rural Cabinet (CABINET-0850-1-000) & Gantry Cabinet (CABINET-0851-1-000).

Manufactured and designed by Ritherdon according to NH requirements. Made from stainless steel with a 25-year guarantee.

NH Type 640 Rural Power Cabinet: CABINET-0850-1-000

The Rural site cabinet incorporates internal power distribution for Highways and TSP rack mounted electronic equipment.

The Rural cabinet is sometimes required to distribute main power to post mounted signals. Power distribution to post / mast mounted CCTV cameras, ANPR cameras, and radar detectors etc., is almost exclusively at ELV (Extra Low-Voltage), thus facilitates the internal mains power distribution to rack mounted power supply units.

NH Type 640 Gantry Power Cabinet: CABINET-0851-1-000

The Gantry site cabinet incorporates internal power distribution for Highways and TSP rack mounted electronic equipment as per the Rural cabinet. The Gantry site cabinet distributes mains power to final circuits located on the gantry structure, that may include message signs, lane signals, speed enforcement equipment and sign lighting.

All mains power distributed to the gantry has power isolation by the Gantry Main Switch. For a single-span gantry (either of cantilever or portal design) the gantry power isolation is simple because only one switch is required to isolate the gantry power.
