A Retention Socket is a socket designed to firmly and securely hold poles, posts and columns in place whilst also allowing quick replacement of damaged poles without needing re-excavation.

Ritherdon’s signature offering is the Atlas Retention Socket. We also offer Polymer Sleeves – the Bollard Retention Socket.

Atlas Retention sockets are a secure foundation mechanism that allows for the quick and easy replacement of poles and posts throughout their lifetime.

The Atlas Retention Socket features a clamping mechanism that is especially kinder towards passively safe posts (i.e. Jerol, Lattix, or Sapa poles) made out of softer material as opposed to traditional traffic signal posts and poles.

The nature of passively safe structures makes the Atlas Retention Socket the ideal companion for passively safe poles that need to be replaced quickly and efficiently.

Used in junction with a physical electrical disconnections system such as PolePlugs, Atlas Retention sockets provide a complete passively safe solution.

Polymer Sleeves – the Bollard Retention Socket:

A retention socket system designed mainly for installing bollards and poles. Uses a polymer sleeve inside the socket to grip the bollard securely.

The bollard/pole is pushed into the socket and held tightly by the sleeve. It cannot be removed manually but can be quickly extracted using machinery (e.g. HIAB/crane). The sleeve also creates a watertight seal around the base.
