Misadventures in Marketing: November
Happy Holidays where we’ve had a bit of everything: short-lived co-worker absences, work bonding and ‘timely’ office shenanigans.
November has been a bit tricky here at Ritherdon with the month beginning with a surprise, an outbreak of something that wasn’t Covid! (we do like variety here).
In all honestly, a nasty stomach bug kicked our month off, leaving half the office empty with only 2 people to answer the phones resulting in sheer chaos. Luckily, we managed to get a system together, having the remaining members of marketing answer the phones, taking order notes and apologizing profusely for slightly staggered orders. Through this system, however, we managed to us to ride out the storm until enough people recovered for business to resume.
I was thankful to be spared phone duty, to work on my editing for a product tutorial video. Unfortunately, it seems my attention to detail needs work as my colleague kept pointing out little errors I didn’t see. This led to 18 full drafts being created until I got it right. While my pride has taken a hit, the silver lining is that I have certainly improved my focus and editing skills because of this.
The end of the month however marked the return of the work social, going out with people from the office and factory to get some food. Honestly, it is a nice change to finally have some downtime with my co-workers in these Covid times and after the mass illness of the last few weeks. It also amazes me that some of my co-workers can wolf down a whole pizza and chips and still be hungry.
Working on the promotional E-shots is also getting much easier the more I work with the Mailchimp software though I must confess to being distracted by the office clock that now features 2 pictures of my co-workers faces attached to its hands as a prank by another colleague. It could be worse?
With December coming the next month is looking to be busy, though shorter booking the last of the year’s orders before we close for Christmas and New year on the 23rd.
Here’s to a soft yet intense month.
