Misadventures in Marketing: June 2022
Well, its finally happened. Its officially been a year since I began my time here at Ritherdon. Now with my Apprenticeship nearly over and slowly shifting to marketing tasks full time, its time to look back at the month and year as a whole and see what’s changed.
With the deadline date for my apprenticeship portfolio approaching at the end of the month, much of June has unfortunately been dedicated to a mad rush to finish coursework on time, combing and rooting through various files to finish my project and catalogue my work for the invigilators.

Thankfully I managed to finish and submit the work before the deadline, making a mad rush with only minutes to spare. Not my quickest submission but thankfully everything was in place. In other news it was my birthday this month, celebrating with a nice meal and chilling out.
Though now I am getting a little more leeway due to the lack of other coursework tasks, I have begun working on the Ritherdon socials full time now, being in charge of making sure our Monday, Thursday and Friday posts are created, scheduled and posted each week.
With my coursework submitted I have also decided to treat myself, heading on holiday with a friend to Vietnam in August, going from the top to the bottom of the country, exploring its sights, culture and food. Lots and lots of food.
Of course, now that it’s been a year, looking back on my apprenticeship has actually been quite a revealing process. I have improved my camera work and editing through self-learning and practice, whilst also learning completely new skills I.E, SEO practices and social media creation and scheduling.

But the most surprising change is my change in attitude. At the beginning of the course, I was quick to temper, getting stressed out by the smallest thing and believing I could handle the more technical side of the coursework with ease. Now the apprenticeship has humbled me, the course increasing my resolve and patience with my tasks whilst also making me a calmer person, checking my ego. It has been a revelatory and necessary experience that I believe has not only made me into a better creator and employee but also better person.
Overall, Its been a real privilege chronicling my journey for you lovely readers over the last year. Thank you very much for tuning in and listening to my experiences, difficulties and sometimes rants. Looking ahead I don’t know if Ritherdon will extend my contract into a full job yet, however I am confident that wherever I end up I’m sure the things I have learned here will only benefit me.
Here’s to the future.
