Misadventures in Marketing: July
Well the second month of my time at Ritherdon has come to a close. As mentioned above, it’s been eventful beginning with bringing of lots of cake to celebrate my Birthday only to be punctuated with the sheer terror of nearly forgetting my Mum’s birthday two days before (don’t worry I managed to get gifts – it was fine).
It was also nice to engage in some work bonding (is that the term?) with members of sales and marketing going to see Nicola Ellis, our resident artist, new exhibition in Castlefield, Manchester. Check out Nicola and her artwork. The evening was fun, eventually heading to get food where underestimated the strength of the coffee I was drinking and ultimately had a sugar rush. Suffice to say I won’t be hearing the end of that for a while.
Moving onto other events, we began to work further with Instavolt, in the first in what hopefully will be many, brainstorming meetings about potential ideas marketing ideas going forward. Honestly it still surprises me to be involved at such high level decisions in the company, it really makes feel like I am making a difference here.

Still the lack of AC at Ritherdon has made July quite tough. Baking in the office has not been fun but it has been offset by the bonding with my co-workers. I’m at the point where even a print off of actor Ken Jong’s face to lighten the mood in these sweltering times no longer surprises me.
Regular work does continue however, with drafting more product descriptions, editing tutorial instillation videos for select products, take a look here, taking photos, research for a heritage open day plus more research for my Apprentify Work. Suffice to say the workload has increased a fair deal here and it is making me schedule and organize my time much better than I did at the start.
This hasn’t affected my e-learning thankfully and I am still learning new things in relation to editing an camerawork as well as through my Apprentify work, though I am a little irritated being assigned homework at 25. I have learned quite a bit through the apprenticeship provider to be honest, but it makes things even better when they include a marketing consultancy video from a man who looked EXACTLY like Joe Biden, seriously I am not kidding.

Moving into August the work very much overlaps, with many work projects including the interview with Nicola and product instillation tutorials as well as Apprentify work. With this being the last month of our second quarter its all hands-on deck to get work done before our Third quarter begins in September. Let the grind begin. See you next month!
