Misadventures in Marketing: February 2022
Its February and it’s a month of newness here, with new social media posts, new filming and memes. SO MANY MEMES.
As you can probably tell from the previous sentence, our social media has changed since I have now become more involved with Ritherdons social accounts.
Being tasked to create posts for Motivational Monday, Throwback Thursday and Friday Fun made me go a little mad with power, like any good despot, leading to the creation of way too many memes that, for better or worse, did not make it to post.
My second Friday Fun post case and point used a meme featuring the joker which I enjoyed making but, as it turned out, for my manager, it was as popular as the real joker turning up in the office.
While I do protest the slight stifling of my creativity, in all seriousness creating and structuring content for social media has been quite a fun experience, the whole practice of planning three different types of online content is a lot more nuanced than I thought.
It isn’t just the social media side of things that I got to grips with this month, filming the various parts of the factory for our partners’ promo video. I finally feel comfortable around the factory, its staff and machinery though it can be tough filming in some situations. Ever try and adjust ISO in a welding mask?
The social outing side of Ritherdon has also finally resumed this new year, with our first curry night in months providing a nice breather outside of work. The guys in the factory also seem to be warming to me since I got hazed the other week, with one of them asking me to put on order for bubbles to put into the spirit levels. I cancelled the order eventually.
In other news we have officially met our 2021-22 business target, smashing our 4 million yearly revenue target well in advance of our deadline, resulting in celebratory café sandwiches for everyone and let me tell you, a bacon and egg sandwich is the best reward for anything.
Next month seems to be a challenge with my final apprenticeship project and exam coming up as well as a ramp up in video and blog production but worry not and I shall let you know how I get on next month.
