Ritherdon’s Passively Safe Cabinet Makes the Headlines

We’re proud to share that Ritherdon’s Passively Safe Cabinet (PSC) has been making waves across the industry press. Recognised as the world’s first Passively Safe Roadside Electrical Cabinet, this innovation is attracting attention for the way it redefines roadside safety.

Designed for Safety in a Collision

Traditional Roadside Electrical Cabinets are rigid, which means they can become hazardous obstacles during a vehicle collision. The Ritherdon PSC changes this with its unique breakaway system, which allows the Cabinet to safely detach on impact.

This reduces the risk of injury to drivers and passengers while also limiting vehicle damage.

It’s a simple concept with huge safety benefits and one that sets our Cabinet apart in the highways sector.

An Alternative Where Safety Matters Most

The PSC isn’t intended to replace feeder pillars or standard roadside cabinets. Instead, it provides a specialist solution for particular environments, such as rural or high speed roads, where installing full Vehicle Restraint Systems (VRS) would be costly, impractical, or even impossible.

By offering a passively safe alternative, we’re giving local highways authorities and contractors another option to balance safety, cost, and practicality in challenging locations.

As recent press coverage highlights, the PSC isn’t just an industry first – it’s a product designed for today’s infrastructure challenges, where protecting road users and optimising budgets go hand in hand.
