Keeping Your Enclosure Safe

Our A to Z of Ritherdon this week is Keys, and keeping our enclosures secure is one of the highest priorities for us here at Ritherdon.

To do this we use different key and locking mechanisms across our Product Range.

Types of Locks:

As metal enclosure specialists, we secure our cabinets using a multitude of locks, the most common being Cam Locks.

These are L-shaped locks that are small enough to be installed within enclosures, taking up less space and leaving more room for electrical equipment.

There are two types of Cam Locks, keyed and keyless, known as Slam Cams. Our keyless locks are accessible with a standard tool key, whereas our keyed locks need a specific key to unlock.

Tri-Key Cam Locks:

The Tri-Key Cam Lock is our most common lock and can be accessed with a standard Tri-Key tool key.  These locks are adaptable to harsh environments, making them ideal for our predominantly outdoor-based products.

Pin-Hex Cam-Locks and 1333 Key Operated Cam-Locks:

Our Pin-Hex Cam Locks are keyless locks that use a Pin Hex key to open. The 1333 Key Operated Lock is a keyed lock that uses a standard 1-333 (EK333) key.

Both the Pin-Hex Cam Locks and 1333 Key Operated Locks offer a slightly higher level of security for our cabinets, using keys that are less readily available.

Other Locks/Security:

Our product range also uses the Three Point Locking system for our electrical enclosures, such as our RMC and PS and TBS Cabinets, offering a stronger locking system.

Our Meter Box Repair Door and Frames also make use of Slam Cam locks, which lock automatically when the door closes, without having to re-use its key.

We also offer Padlock Shrouds as an optional accessory. The shrouds act as anti-vandal prevention and make enclosure locks harder to access.
