What Are Our Different Grades of Steel?
Ritherdon are specialist manufacturers of multipurpose Stainless Steel Electrical Enclosures and as a result we use Stainless Steel due to its many environmental and practical advantages over enclosures made from other materials such as GRP (glass reinforced plastic).
Location Variety:
Our Cabinets are available in three different grades: 304 and 316 which are suitable for Coastal and Marine environments and most commonly 4003 for inland locations which comes powder coated as standard, giving it an extra level of protection.
All our stainless steel grades ensure our enclosures are suitable for use within both inner city and rural based environments.
Anti-Corrosion:
Powder coating our 304 and 316 graded steel adds another level of protection against coastal and marine conditions including environments with high salt content.
Because of this our cabinets are incredibly durable and versatile in numerous different environments, giving multiple options to our customers wanting a product resistant to corrosion and UV. Our pillars and service cabinets are designed with simple, flat surfaces and minimal crevices to encourage rain washing which removes these harmful ions.
Protection:
The main safety role of an electrical enclosure (or feeder pillar) is as a barrier to prevent someone on the outside from touching what is on the inside of the cabinet.
The much higher impact strength of a stainless steel enclosure, as opposed to one made from GRP, obviously makes this much more secure. At Ritherdon we also have a 25 year guarantee on our products, ensuring long life and cost effectiveness for all those who order with us.
Sustainability:
Did you know that 85% of stainless steel is recycled, whereas on the other hand, if you opted for GRP feeder pillars, virtually 0% of GRP (Glass reinforced plastic, also known as fiberglass, is a composite material) is recycled.
All our stainless steel enclosures are made from recycled steel, and we are happy to have been certified BSI environmental management Systems ISO14001 for our business and products.
