What Are Our Fireseals?
This week we are looking at the letter “F” as part of our A to Z of Ritherdon campaign. For this, we have chosen our FireSeals.
The Ritherdon range of passive fire protection products have grown from the need to provide fire rated covers for new kinds of breaches within buildings.
These breaches have been caused, for example, by the installation of in-set electricity meter boxes, dry risers and service risers. The pathways created by the installation of these items create a risk of fire and smoke transmission.
This was a safety risk that nobody had a solution to, until we here at Ritherdon developed and tested one of the first FireSeals, a fire rated access panel, which has since been used to upgrade passive fire protection in buildings across the UK.
Ritherdon developed the FireSeal based on our meter box repair units and, just like our meter box repair units, the FireSeal can be retrofitted over the existing meter box. There’s no need to disconnect the utilities.
Our FireSeals contain fires at their source, preventing their spread and reducing potential damage. They are fire tested, possessing extra door strength, with high temp resistant locks, and can be fitted to a wall to cover a variety of aperture shapes and sizes.

Our FireSeal Range:
Since developing our first FireSeal Cover, we have expanded our range to meet all our customers’ fire safety needs.
Our Fire Rated Access Panel has higher temperature resistant locks, extra door strength and can be fitted to a wall to cover a variety of aperture shapes and sizes.
The R22 FireSeal is a modified version of our R22 Door and Frame product, which is used to repair gas-based meter boxes and has been adapted to be fire resistant.
The Riser FireSeal provides a vertical barrier to electrical pathways that run between building floors, which are often identified as potential fire routes. This Fire Seal is much less susceptible to disturbance and its integrity can be checked with ease.
